We are the Sawdust Fusiliers Living History Group.
We are a family run living history group and are the only group in Scotland that portray the forestry corps of the First and Second World War.
We endevour to teach about the men who came over as part of the Canadian and Newfoundland Forestry Corps.
We also tell the stories of the women of the Womens Forestry Service/Womens Timber Corp.
We carry out demonstrations of how to use authentic cross cut saws from this time. We also use the original tools to sharpen and set saws in a traditional way.
Please take a look around and also visit our facebook, instagram and X accounts (formally twitter)
We hope to see you at an event soon.

(Dad)
Clive is the master behind all of our props . He loves exploring and researching the history behind both the Candian Forestry Corps and Newfoundland Forestry Corps.
On displays he can be found helping to clean and sharpen saws and axes, making tent pegs with his double bladed axe, or getting excited about new saws that have been donated.
Clive loves to pass on his knowledge to the public that we meet. He always has on hand his 'geek book' with information he has gathered from a wide variety of sources.
(Lumberjill)
Tamzin is our resident Lumberjill. She tells the stories of the women who became the elite section of the Women's Land Army.
She can usually be found either being ballast for the logs on the saw horse or making cups of tea.
Tamzin is learning the ways of the axes and saws.
Tamzin is also keen to pass on the knowledge she has learned and her 'geek book' is almost as large as Clive's.
(LCpl REME)
Nick usually portrays the role of the REME. He is the primary saw filer on displays. He becomes very excited when old tools, saws and axes are donated.
Nick also makes all the axe shafts on displays.
(Greenhorn)
Andrew is our newest member. He is learning about the Candian Forestry Corp, sawing, chopping and also cleaning of saws.
Andrew becomes very excited when he recieves a rusty saw and finds the acid etch on it.
(Private Po)
Poppy is our mascot. Born on Rememberance Sunday (hence her name Poppy).
Poppy is partially Newfoundland so therefore links to our Canada/Newfoundland history.
On displays Poppy loves to meet the public and have cuddles.
